Some people just dont want Pres. Aquino to succeed in anti-corruption drive.

Lets us be directly blunt about it. It is all about the impeachement case of the Chief Justice, Renato J. Corona, a man who blocked Pres. Aquino’s plan to investigate and prosecute his predecessor Gloria Macapagal Arroyo whose regime was tainted by various scandals: the Hello Garci scandal (cheating in 2004 elections), NBN/ZTE scandal, 2007 bribes (payola) to congressmen and governors, fertilizer scam (to the tune of P725+ Million!!! ), Jose Pidal bank accounts(involving the First Gentleman), North Rail project and others.

The reason for Renato Corona's court blocking ,in the form of TRO, the anti-corruption drive in the form of a Truth Commision was that the campaign was targeted specifically against Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, and not against other past presidents, in the guise of “equal protection under the Law”!

Flying against the face of this flimsy excuse of “justice” is the fact that Corona was a midnight appointee by the previous president, an act interpreted by critics as a safety mechanism for Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, to use the Supreme court as a last refuge against potential charges and borne out by subsequent events, in the issuance of speedy TROs against government agencies actions. It is just a tit-for-tat that the allies of the president did a lightning quick impeachment proceeding in the House of Representatives.

The sad thing is that Corona equates himself with the Supreme Court, which he is not! Now that he is impeached (but not convicted), several astounding information abut the man at the helm of the Supreme Court has come out:

  1. He (Corona) has embellished his academic records in the Supreme Court website,

  2. Corona has obtained properties whose total assessed values is incommensurate with his government salary.

  3. Corona has dollar accounts (not a crime) under his name, but has "forgotten" to declare them in his SALN. The Ombudsman, whom Corona has shown “no love lost”, is preparing a possible second impeachment case, this time with the aid of other government agencies such as AMLAC.
Corona had shown and continues to show himself in the same mold as the previous Ombudsman, Merceditas Gutierrez. Now, some critics lament the intensity of Congress and the Office of the President in “ganging up” on a coequal branch, the Supreme Court. No, they are not fighting the Supreme Court but is trying to remove an unfit, unethical (who pointed a gun to an old caretaker) person at the reins of the Supreme Court. If they dont accept this simple fact, they are in effect lovers of corruption, and are against the current President Aquino drive to stamp out or greatly diminish corruption in government.

The difference between leaders of Germany and of the Philippines

Click on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_Wulff

The president of Germany, Christian Wullf who served during the period 30 June 2010 – 17 February 2012, resigned due to allegations of corruption commited while he was still prime minister of Lower Saxony.

Read that! Mere allegations! Here our impeachment court will NOT accept mere allegations!

In the same article, it was mentioned that a premier and former Interior minister stumbled over a scandal involving free travel paid by a travel group company.

Compare with Corona who digs in, exposing himself to hold secret dollar accounts and local peso deposit to the tune of 20 million pesos plus!

In Japan, most leaders will resign or commit hara-kiri. Filipino leader are made of cheese.

Open Dollar Accounts! Religious leaders demands.

The law on dollar accounts secrecy applies only to foreigners to encourage investing in the Philippines, and this does not apply to Chief Justice Corona, who is being subject to impeachment. The law requires a written permission from the depositor(Corona) for the information to be divulged. We see that Corona, who has an MBA and once worked in a bank, uses the banking system for hiding his wealth from the PUBLIC.

A group calling itself, Association of Major Religious Superiors of the Philippines has come out in the open urging the impeached Chief Justice Corona to open his dollar accounts.

We dont know much about this group. But you can visit its web site at http://amrsp.org

This follows on the earlier call for the same demand by bishops.

We hope that the growing clamor will force the Chief Justice to REALIZE that he has lost on the Filipino PUBLIC, who did NOT vote for him, but was appointed by a president GMA who has dirtied her hands on so MANY Corruption and Bribery, ELECTIONEERING cases. Corona is now eating the fruits of his blind obedience to a president, whom history will judge a corrupt one. And Corona has become corrupt ALSO.

Who would not get mad with GMA and her brand of corruption and patronage politics?

GMA now has a neck brace and is confined at Veterans Hospital. Yet even in advanced coutnries such as the USA, being aged but on death row will not save one from the execution!

Some blogger did a list of the "crimes" of GMA and we are thankful we are freed from extra work. We spread the list so everyone who reads it seriously will somehow appreciate the scope and breadth of legalized corruption during the gma administration.

Corona impeached! Shall we be cheering?

From

Philstar comes
this startling news that Corona is to be impeached.

With clinical precision and with the numbers, congressmen-allies of President Aquino moved quickly yesterday to impeach Chief Justice Renato Corona for alleged betrayal of public trust, violation of the Constitution, and graft and corruption. Since the ruling party has the numbers, this is almost a sure thing.

We feel a little sorry about this, but Chief Justice Corona has brought this kind of confrontation by his amazing indiscreet display of blind loyalty to his patron, former president Arroyo. Unfortunate that the whole Supreme court suffers from this perception of bias.
From the silly excuse of "executive privilege" for covering up the corruption under her former administration, he has in effect condoned and abetted corruption!

And the blatant citation of contempt for U.P Law faculty for their strong commentaries about a fellow SC justice "plagiarism" marks the highest level of ignorance of the purpose of Supreme court, not only as the last resort for the carriage of Justice but as a protector of free speech.

But what gets the people's ire was its declaration of unconstitutionality of the "Truth Commision" as it specifically targeted the arroyo administration! Is there a more horrid example of bias for support of their patron>

The best thing to happen is for other Justices to resign on the grounds of loss of confidence. They have to be renominated throught the crucible of public scrutiny in Congress for their reappointments.

I dont know what will happen in this historical crossroad but let us help President Aquino in his mandate to create the New Filipino, stamping out corruption, and gaining investor confidence for the country and in one generation to let those "househelpers" and "maids" find noble work in their own country.

Now the true story of the previous Arroyo presidency is being told

If there is something about the previous GM Arroyo presidency, it is that she was successful
in projecting a false image of the extent of corruption at the top of the executive branch. With documented proof that even bishops have been seduced by money to buy luxurious vehicles, and handling windfall ad placements to some favored friends and of generals being generously rewarded for their loyalties (only Gen. Angelo Reyes made the supreme acknowledgment of corruption), it is now clear that the presidential regime of former Pres. GM Arroyo was one one of the most corrupt, perhaps next to the corruption under the Marcos regime.

We want more details about the fertilizer scam, the ZTE scandals, what was she doing in a hotel in China with a contract? Hopefully we shall know the full extent of her corruption. Now out of power but still powerful with friends and allies in Congress and senate, it is refreshing that the public is exposed now to the details of the mediocre and corrupt presidency    of Madame Pres. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

So unlike the father, sigh....

Noy blinks on midnight low level judiciary appointments! Won't gloria be pleased!!

Call it security from prosecution by buying the midnight lawyers, but Gloria might escaped unscathed from charges of corruption in the NBN ZTE, fertilizer scam, payola during a Malacanang party.

As the bombastic Quezon once said, he will do the country a favor by closing all the law schools.
No, those lawyers have no conscience at all. As long as they maintain their fiesta atmosphere nothing good will come out of this. Let he generous Americans pay for the fight against corruption.

Tax Evaders in our midst: The Villarica case.

It is incredible that in a poor country (as in poorly managed) as ours. some people elect to display indecent behavior (not the flash your private parts) but flash the latest sports cars on the high ways.

In the news is that the owner of Villarica pawnshop has not paid a centavo in taxes over the past EIGHT years. This the fact that he drives around in showy and flashy Lamborghini and a Ferrari cars.
He should instead be put to jail immediately. Instead, he will be charged for tax evasion by the DOJ with the possbility that he can escape to other countries.

The complaint sheet file by the BIR charged Villarica of

“attempting to evade and willful failure to file income tax returns from 2002 to 2009, except for 2007 when he filed a return of zero tax payment.”

He has paid a miserly total of only 25,607 pesos from 1998 to 2009! Yet the price of the Lamborghini sports car was P26 million pesos! as shown by a deed of sale from the Land Transportation Office(LTO). This alone renders a tax deficiency of P16.2 million plus P6.3 million in value-added tax against Villarica, said the BIR. His pawnshops has not paid for any taxes on profits of the pawnshop branches that could reach P1 billion per year. According to Villarica's claims, his pawnshops already stopped operations, but the BIR found that all five branches registered under Villarica’s name are still operating.

Will these evaders be shot in public. Hell NO! This is not China or Vietnam where crooks are dispatched with a bullet to the head.

Take a lessons from the recent case of Wesley Snipes. In the U.S. , the IRS and the prosecutors are very much dedicated to their jobs seeing that tax-evaders have their due in prison!
Wesley Snipes Appeal Sentence.

Incredible. Suwapang! Terrible.
