The Libyan government of Col. Muammar Khadafy used tanks, and figther planes in dislodging rebels from towns. Now it is focusing in Benghazi, the largest held rebel area.
But the recent vote of Security Council of the the United Nations to institute a no-fly zone in some parts of Libya has emboldened even France to do some military action real soon!
