China on a foreign relations charm offensive against Ebola

While the Philippines may be having second-thoughts in sending medical personnel to Ebola ravaged countries, comes this news item that China will bravely send 160 health personnel to man a 41 Million dollars clinic. In contrast, the US has just planed an infected non-American doctor for treatment in the USA.

The seemingly altruisctic action of the Chinese government is actually commendable. Still we cannot escape the thought of the possibilities that this may be a public relations coup and a possible route to stronger trade deals between the beneficiary country of Libera and China.

We hope that the scourge of Ebola will not transfer to the billion plus population of mainland China.
